The Cornwall Nationals are a professional hockey team that is based out of the Ed Lumley Arena at the Cornwall Civic Complex in Cornwall, Ontario.  The team was announced on September 16, 2016 to commence play with the 2016-17 season.  A press conference was held on the 17th to announced the nickname and logo

The owners are Mitch Gagne and Rodney Rivette; both of which have deep ties to the community.  Gagne will also serve as the general manager  The possibility of an FHL team in Cornwall came about when the Cornwall River Kings of the Ligue Nord-Américaine de Hockey folded in August of 2016.  The area previously had an FHL team in the Akwesasne Warriors who were based in near by Akwesasne from 2010 to 2012.
