History
The Central Ontario Junior "C" Hockey League is one of a long list of Ontario Hockey Association leagues to have dubbed themselves as the "Central". Founded in the 1970s, the Central Lakeshore league merged with the Quinte-St. Lawrence Junior "C" Hockey League in 1986. The end of the Quinte-St. Lawrence resulted in the creation of the Empire B Junior "C" Hockey League in 1989. Since the 1980s, roughly half the Central league has been promoted to the Ontario Provincial Junior A Hockey League. In fact, All five teams in the league are currently affiliated with the OPJHL. The COJCHL used to be the home of the Bowmanville Eagles, who had a long history of Junior "C" domination. The Eagles are now one of the top teams in all of Canadian Tier II Junior "A" Hockey.
