Capital Jr "B"

The Capital Junior Hockey League is a Junior "B" ice hockey league in Alberta, Canada, sanctioned by Hockey Canada. The winner of Central "B" playoffs earns the chance to compete for the Western Canadian Junior "B" Crown, the Keystone Cup. To earn the right to compete, they must face off against the winners of the other Alberta "B" leagues in the Alberta Provincial Junior B Hockey Championship.

Origins

The league was founded in 1972 as the Edmonton Metropolitan Junior Hockey League.   The league was founded to give area hockey players to play junior hockey without having to leave the area.

The CJHL was incorporated in January 1973.  The orignal members were University of Alberta Jr. Bears, South Side Athletic Club, North Side Club, Sherwood Park KnightsSt. Albert Juniors, and the Fort Saskatchewan Hawks. Sherwood Park and Fort Saskatchewan are still members of the league.
