The Canadian Hockey League is the top junior level in Canada, being a Major Junior "A" league. The CHL in itself is not a league but a broader entity consisting of three member leagues, the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL), the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) and Western Hockey League (WHL). The players of those three leagues are between ages 15 and 20 and all three leagues are considered development leagues for the National Hockey League. While all of the three hold independent activities, the champion of each three leagues plus the organizing city at the end of the playoffs meet in a tournament for the Memorial Cup, that crowns the best junior team in the country.
Did you know that... the Canadian Hockey League is the top feeder system for the National Hockey League in the world. More players are drafted from the CHL than any other source worldwide.
