The parking lot of Caesars Palace was used for an NHL pre-season game on September 27, 1991.  this was the first ever game played outdoors to involve two NHL teams.  (The Detroit Red Wings had previously played a game on February 2, 1954 at an outdoor rink at the Marquette Branch Prison, Marquette, Michigan against prison inmates.)  The Los Angeles Kings defeated the New York Rangers 5-2, in front of a crowd of 13,007.
