BC Place is the home of the British Columbia Lions of the Canadian Football League and the Vancouver White Caps FC of Major League Soccer. BC Place first opened in 1983 in preperation for Expo '86 which was held in Vancouver. It is home of the British Columbia Sports Hall of Fame. The stadium was the main stadium for the 2010 Winter Olympic Games and the 2010 Winter Paralympics. The stadium had the interior extensively renovated in 2009 in preperation for the Olympic and Paralympic games. It was further renovated in 2011 to have a retractable roof stadium, which is the world's largest cable supported retractable roof.
The facility hosted the 2014 Heritage Classic on March 2, 2014 between the Vancouver Canucks and the Ottawa Senators. This will be the 3rd edition of the Heritage Classic after games played in Edmonton in 2003 and Calgary in 2011.
