The Atlanta Capitals are a Tier III Junior A ice hockey team in the North American 3 Hockey League's Southern Division. The team's home arena is the 1,000+ -seat Center Ice Arena in the Atlanta suburb of Sandy Springs, Georgia.
The team announced they were relocating from Topeka to the Atlanta, Georgia area on June 15, 2015. The team is based out of the Center Ice Arena in Sandy Springs. The team is affiliated with the Topeka RoadRunners of the NAHL.
The franchise was initially established in 2013 as the Topeka Capitals and played two seasons out of the 7,777-seat Landon Arena. With stalled negotiations for a lease renewal, team owner, Don Stone decided to move to the Atlanta, Georgia metro area to meet the league deadline for a confirmed facility.
