Arthur "Art" Egerton Sixsmith (June 27, 1880–March 15, 1969) was a Canadian ice hockey rover. He played for the Ottawa Hockey Club and later moved to Pittsburgh and to Portage la Prairie, Manitoba to play professionally. He was one of the first professional ice hockey players. He was a member of the Ottawa 1901 CAHL champions and championship teams in the Western Pennsylvania Hockey League (WPHL).

Playing careerEdit

Born in Ottawa, Canada, Sixsmith first played senior hockey at the age of 15 with the Ottawa Cliffsides of the Ottawa City Senior League. He played junior hockey until 1899 when he joined the Ottawa Hockey Club, playing two seasons for the club, scoring seven goals in nine games. He also played for Ottawa's second team and intermediate hockey. In 1901, he moved to Pittsburgh, turning professional with the Pittsburgh Keystones of the WPHL. He played two seasons with the Pittsburgh Victorias of the WPHL before joining the Pittsburgh Pros of the International Professional Hockey League (IHL) for two seasons. In 1906, he moved to Portage la Prairie to play for the Portage Cities of the Manitoba Professional Hockey League (MPHL), returning to Pittsburgh the following season with the Pittsburgh Bankers of the revived WPHL for two further seasons. In 1909, he played several games with the Cities before retiring from competitive play. He became a long-time coach in the Pittsburgh area.

He retired to Florida and died in Titusville in 1969.
