Playing careerEdit

On January 5, 2012, Shaw got into his first-ever NHL fight on the second shift of his first NHL game. He needed stitches, but later returned to score the first goal of his NHL career on his first shot of his first game against Ilya Bryzgalov of the Philadelphia Flyers.[2][3]

On April 14, 2012 during the first round of the playoffs, Shaw was battling for the puck when Phoenix Coyotes goalie Mike Smith was hit by Shaw. Shaw left the game with a 5 minute major and a game misconduct. On April 17, 2012, Shaw was suspended for 3 games.
