NCAA Sanctions

The school was hit with sanctions by the NCAA across much of its' athletic program in November of 2014 due to eligibility issues of many student athletes due to lack of a declared major or lack of credits towards a degree.  The hockey program was specifically found to have six players that were ineligible playing in games between 2007 and 2011. The team was required to vacate 67 wins and 25 ties from 2007 to 2010. Additional games were affected from the 2011-12 season. The school also forfeited their Governor's Cup championships in 2009 and 2010 to the Alaska-Anchorage Seawolves. The team was hit with a post-season ban for the 2014-15 season. the team's head coach had 63 wins removed from his record. The team had self administered a reduction by one of the number of men's hockey scholarships for the 2012-13 and 2013-14 seasons and the NCAA mandated the 2014-15 as well.

The school had discovered the issue in 2011 and reported the infractions to the NCAA. The school conducted an internal review and took steps to remedy the situation. In the release of the sanctions the school itself took responsibility for the infractions and deflected blame from the student-athletes as it was due to the school's inadequate system to ensure that student eligibility requirements were being met. The school was also fined $30,000 and put on probation for 3 years 2014 to 2017. The school was required to undergo audits annually of the eligibility compliance of the student-athletes.
