The Canadian Junior Hockey League announced on September 1, 2018 that all 133 members of the CJHL will raise a special banner at their home arenas in tribute to the people killed in the Humboldt Broncos bus crash on April 6, 2018.[1]

The CJHL announced that an effort to focus on development of players has resulted in the CJHL reducing the number of 20-year olds playing in the leagues. Starting with 2018-19 the number of 20-year olds will be reduced by one with the maximum allowed being six by the start of the 2020-21 season. The teams can sign additional 20-year olds as affiliate players but the teams can not have the number of 20-year olds exceed the total number allowable for the season.[2]
