Allan cup 2015 logo

The 2015 Allan Cup was held in Clarenville, Newfoundland and Labrador.  The tournament was hosted by the Clarenville Caribous.  Games were held at the Eastlink Events Centre.  The games were held April 13th to April 18th.  There were 18 eligible teams (registered as Senior AAA) for the tournament.  Based on the alignment of the teams two teams and the host qualified for the tournament before the season even began.

Qualifying[]

  • Clarenville Caribous qualified as the host team
  • Grand Falls-Windsor Cataracts qualified as the spot for the Quebec entry in the tournament as there is no Quebec registered AAA teams for 2014-15 and the spot traditionally goes to the host branch and as the 2014 Herder Memorial Trophy champion they would have automatically qualified for the Atlantic Canada regional qualifying tournament
  • Lameque Au Ptit Mousse from New Brunswick qualified in place of an Atlantic region playoff as the only other 2 teams in the region have already qualified by other means
  • The winner of the McKenzie Cup, the Bentley Generals, qualified as the  Pacific Region champions,  between the winner of the series between the Powell River Kings and the winner of the five-team Chinook Hockey League.  The Powell River Kings announced on January 1, 2015 that they have withdrawn from the competition and so the playoff champion of the CHL qualified as the league contains the only registered AAA teams in either province.  The Bentley Generals won the CHL championship on March 22nd to earn the Pacific region berth.
  • The winner of the Rathgaber Cup, the South East Prairie Thunder  qualified as the Manitoba-Saskatchewan champions, between the South East Prairie Thunder defeated the Rosetown Red Wings as they were the only AAA registered teams for 2014-15 in their home provinces. The South East Prairie Thunder defeated the Rosetown Red Wings 3 games to none to clinch their spot in the tournament.
  • The winner of the Renwick Cup, the Dundas Real McCoys qualified as Ontario champions, between the Kenora Thistles and the winner of the six-team (five-team as of the Welland Whalers ceasing operations in October, 2014)  Allan Cup Hockey championship for the  (between April 3rd and 5th at the rink of the ACH champions) for the Ontario championship.  These are the only registered six teams in the province.
