NHL outdoor gamesEdit

The National Hockey League is planning to have six outdoor games for the 2013-2014 season

January 1, 2014 Detroit Red Wings vs. Toronto Maple Leafs at Michigan Stadium,  in Ann Arbor, MI (planned to be called the 2014 Winter Classic)

January 25, 2014 Los Angeles Kings vs. Anaheim Ducks at Dodger Stadium

January 26, 2014 New Jersey Devils vs. New York Rangers at Yankee Stadium

January 29, 2014 New York Islanders vs. New York Rangers at Yankee Stadium

March 1, 2014 Chicago Blackhawks vs. Pittsburgh Penguins at Soldier Field

March 2, 2013 Vancouver Canucks vs. Ottawa Senators at BC Place (planned to be the Heritage Classic)

2014 NHL All-Star GameEdit

There probably won't be a 2014 NHL All-Star Game due to the XXII Winter Olympics being held in Sochi, Russia from February 7th to 23rd, 2014.  The NHL, the NHLPA, and the IIHF have yet to finalize the participation of NHL players in the Olympics.

XXII Winter OlympicsEdit

The XXII Winter Olympics are being held from February 7th to 23rd, 2014 in Sochi, Russia.

The following nations have qualified for the Men's tournament:Edit

Canada, Czech Republic, Finland, Russia, Norway, Slovakia, Sweden, Switzerland, United States all qualified based on their 2012 IIHF World Ranking.

Austria, Latvia, and Slovenia qualified at the final qualifying tournament held February 7-10, 2013 held in Germany, Latvia, and Denmark respectively.

The following nations have qualified for the Women's tournament:Edit

Russia qualified at host nation.

Canada, United States, Finland, Switzerland, and Sweden all qualified based on their 2012 IIHF World Ranking.

Japan and Germany qualified at the final qualifying tournament February 7-10, 2013 held in Slovakia and Germany respectively.

Frozen FourEdit

The 2014 NCAA Men's Frozen Four,  is scheduled for April 10 & 12, in Philadelphia at the Wells Fargo Center. The host will be ECAC Hockey.

The Regionals will be held in:

  1. Northeast Regional: Worcester, MA (at the DCU Center) hosted by College of the Holy Cross
  1. East Regional: Bridgeport, CT (at the Webster Bank Arena), hosted by Yale University
  1. West Regional: St. Paul, MN (at the Xcel Energy Center) hosted by University of Minnesota
  1. Midwest Regional: Cincinnati, OH (at the US Bank Arena) hosted by Miami University (Ohio)

2014 World Junior Ice Hockey ChampionshipsEdit

The 2014 World Junior Ice Hockey Championships will be held December 26th, 2013 through January 5th, 2014 in Malmo, Sweden.  The two venues are Malmo Arena and Malmo Isstadion. Ten teams are qualified for the tournament. Group A will play at the Malmo Isstadion and will consist of the following teams: the United States, Canada, Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Germany. Group B will play at Malmo Arena and consist of the following teams: Sweden, Russia, Switzerland, Finland, and Norway.

2014 Mastercard Memorial CupEdit

The London Knights and the city of London, Ontario will host the 2014 Mastercard Memorial Cup late in May.

2014 IIHF World ChampionshipEdit

The 2014 IIHK Men's World Championship will be held May 9th through 25th, 2014 at two arenas (Minsk Arena and Chizhovka-Arena) in Minsk, Belarus.  The following nations have qualified for the tournament:

Belarus (Group B) qualified as host nation

Kazakhstan (Group B) and Italy (Group A) qualified via promotion from Division I at the 2013 championship tournament.

Sweden, Czech Republic, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, France (all in Group A) and Finland, russia, United States, Switzerland, Germany, Latvia, (all in Group B) all qualified based upon having a top 14 finish at the 2013 IIHF World Championship
