- The USA Hockey National Team Development Program and the Mahoning Valley Phantoms moved to the United States Hockey League.
- The Motor City Machine were renamed the Motor City Metal Jackets.
- The Texas Tornado returned to the league after sitting out one season due to arena renovations.
- The Janesville Jets were added as an expansion team
