The 2005 Women's Frozen Four was held March 25-27, 2005 in Durham, New Hampshire at Whittemore Center Arena on the campus of the University of New Hampshire. The tournament was hosted by New Hampshire.

For the second straight year, the participants were:

2005 was the first year that the NCAA Tournament included games before the Frozen Four. Each team won a first round series to reach the Frozen Four.

Minnesota was seeded #1 in the NCAA Tournament, one of two seeded teams. The other teams were unseeded.

Finals

On March 27, the semifinal losers, St. Lawrence and Dartmouth, played in the NCAA Third Place Game.

In the second game, Minnesota faced Harvard for the 2005 NCAA Championship. It was Harvard's third straight appearance in the championship game, and for the third time in a row, the Crimson fell short of the title. The two teams traded goals throughout the game, but with 1:08 remaining in regulation with the score tied, Natalie Darwitz scored the game winning goal to propel the Golden Gophers to their second straight NCAA championship.
