The 2005 West Regional of the NCAA Tournament took place March 26 and 27, 2005, at Mariucci Arena in Minneapolis, Minnesota, on the campus of the University of Minnesota.

The participants were:

Cornell was the ECAC Hockey League champion. Minnesota, Ohio State, and Maine all recieved at-large bids to the NCAA Tournament.

Final Edit

The semifinal winners met on March 27. The Minnesota Golden Gophers, playing on their home ice, defeated the Cornell Big Red 2-1 in overtime. Barry Tallackson scored the game-winning goal 4:31 into the first extra period to send Minnesota to the 2005 Frozen Four in Columbus, Ohio.
