In the 1989-90 NHL season, there were 88 hat tricks scored over the 840-game regular-season schedule and 8 scored in the 85 games of the Stanley Cup playoffs. Overall, the Pittsburgh Penguins led all teams with 10 hat tricks and Brett Hull of the St. Louis Blues led all players with 5.
