This is the 1971-72 Western Collegiate Hockey Association season.  This was the league's thirteenth season.

Franchise changeEdit

For the first time, the league standings were based on points as each team no longer made its own conference schedule.

Denver Pioneers and Wisconsin were tournament co-champions.

  • Denver defeated Notre Dame 11 goals to 4 (7-2, 4-2)
  • Wisconsin defeated Michigan Tech 9 goals to 6 (3-5, 6-1)
  • North Dakota defeated Michigan 15 goals to 3 (5-1, 10-2)
