Event of Historical Significance[]
Brock University named Michael Nicholson as the team's captain for the 1968-69 season. This would mark the first time that a Canadian university team would be captained by a black player.[1] This event would happen ten years after Willie O'Ree broke the colour barrier in the National Hockey League.
