Pickups
After winning the MJHL Championship, and qualifying for the Memorial Cup playoffs, the Braves were allowed 4 pick-ups (3 skaters and 1 reserve goaltender). The Braves selected Transcona Rangers Don Atamanchuk, and St. Boniface Canadiens Ted Green, Howie Hughes, and goalie Paul Sexsmith. In the western series, Sexsmith could only play if Wakely was injured and also Moroz would dress as backup unless injured. After winning the Abbott Cup, Western Canada Junior A Championship, the Braves were allowed 3 more pick-ups. They selected reserve goalie Sexsmith, and two more of his St. Boniface Canadiens teammates Jerry Kruk and John Rodger.
