The 1941–42 Brooklyn Americans season was the last season of the Bulldogs/Tigers/Americans NHL franchise. After the season, the Americans franchise was suspended. Although there were several plans to restart the franchise after the Second World War, none came to be.

OffseasonEdit

The team's name was changed to the Brooklyn Americans and the team moved its practices to the Brooklyn Ice Palace.[1] The club would continue to rent Madison Square Garden for games.

Pre-seasonEdit

The Americans played a three game series against the New York Rangers in western Canada:

  • Saturday, October 25 Americans 2 Rangers 1 @ Port Arthur
  • Monday, October 27 Rangers 1 Americans 1 @ Winnipeg
  • Wednesday, October 29 Rangers 8 Americans 3 @ Winnipeg

The series was split with one win each and one tie.

Regular seasonEdit

The season started respectably for the Americans with a 3-3 record before going through an eleven-game losing streak from November 22 through December 16. The United States entered World War II after the December 1941 attack on Pearl Harbor, and the Americans suspended operations after the season, expecting many of their players to enlist.
