Owen Sound's coachEdit

The coach of the Owen Sound Greys was a black man - Norman "Pinky" Lewis. Lewis, born in 1898 in Hamilton, He spent much of his life in sports, mostly as a trainer. There is a recreation centre in his hometown bearing his name. This must be one of the first times that a black coached a white team in all of North America.

Interestingly, three years earlier in the 1936-37 Sutherland Cup Championship, the star of the winning Northern Vocational School was Herb Carnegie, one of the first blacks to play in hockey.
